LEADERSHIP
& MANGEMENT

Anyone can manage a team. Tell people what to do, check it's been done, repeat. That's not leadership — that's administration with a job title.

Real leadership is about building an environment where people do their best work, developing individuals who go on to exceed what either of you thought they were capable of and making the right calls even when they're unpopular. Put the team first and the results follow.

How I Approach it

I lead from the front. I won't ask anyone to do something I haven't done or wouldn't do myself — and that's not just a philosophy, it's something teams notice and respond to. Alongside that I delegate deliberately, not just to manage workload but to grow people. Giving someone ownership of something they've never done before is one of the fastest ways to develop them.

My style is fair and firm. I'll have the difficult conversations, make the unpopular decisions and challenge upwards when I need to — but always with clarity, preparation and a level head. As I've grown as a leader I've learned that the ability to adapt across different generations, personalities and industries is what separates good leaders from average ones. People are people regardless of industry — they want to feel valued, trusted and developed. Get that right and everything else becomes easier.

Team Structure - My Thoughts

Every business is different but the principle is consistent — start lean with the right people, make key hires to fill the critical gaps and build towards a structure where each major function has clear ownership. The goal is always a team where a specialist leads each key area, with a Head of Marketing pulling the strategy together, removing blockers and giving the team what they need to perform.
